Frankie Valentine is a very well respected DJ for more than 20 years now and started producing about 11 years ago. His hometown London has served him many different musical influences and opportunities to create tracks in many different styles of dancemusic. After countless 12inches on labels such as Estero, Icon, File, Auto Extension, Scien, Kooky Grooves or Rekawa, this is his long awaited debut album. From Uptempo to Downtempo, this full length offers many different grooves, moods and styles.
suzuki - tosca (CD) release date: 1/2000 - available to download
Tosca's second album Suzuki takes a lighter, airier approach to the trip-hop terrain that Opera explored. The spare, shimmering title track's delicate synth textures, minimal beats, mellow rhythms, and breathy vocal samples set the tone for the rest of the album's laid-back tracks. Though "Orozco," "Bass on the Boat," and "Ocean Beat" are more immediate variations on Tosca's relaxed sound, for the most part, Suzuki offers a locked groove of hypnotic, deeply chilled-out epics.
Nigel's solo album is set for a full success. The first single "I'm the Instrument" got great reactions from all over and his last album (co-produced with Funk D'Void under the project name Chaser) was a hit anyway. You will find a jazzy, deep percussive Funk/Fusion attitude throughout this album. The sounds range from more floorfriendly songs (straight ahead House) to atmospheric chilly layers. It will appeal to a wide target group of connaisseurs!
consequences - louie austen (CD) release date: 10/1999 - available to download
Austen,Louie - Consequences
Sometimes the unexpected is happening. Cheap records have delivered a
Jazz & Blues album! Louis Austin has been a Jazz singer for 30 years
already. Most recently Louis Austin has been making his living as a hotel bar singer in Vienna's top class residencies. That's where Viennese studio wizard Mario Neugebauer discovered Louis Austin's vocal artistry and they decided to do an album together. Top groovy Bar Jazz Electronica! Recommended.
peace orchestra - peace orchestra (CD) release date: 8/1999 - available to download
Here we go, Peter Kruder's long awaited solo album under his very own disguise "Peace Orchestra". An epic masterpiece proving Kruder's versatility and exceptional production skills - not looking left or right but just keeping on straight ahead to realize his visions. A very strong Headz album genuine Peter Kruder style.
Although I would take J.A.C or Dehli 9 over this anytime, Opera is simply a great album. It sounds very fresh (despite being almost 7 years old!) and has a few outstanding tracks: the classics Fu*k Dub and Chocolate Elvis but also the superb Ambient Emely. It's not as cohesive as Tosca's more recent work but I highly recommend this album. At first it might not sound that good but a careful listen might reveal quite a few things. Try it!
nighttime world 1 - robert hood (CD) release date: 9/1995 - sorry, we do not sell cd's or lp's any longer.
Hood,Robert - Nighttime World 1
Compared to the minimalist lock-step of Internal Empire, Hood's second album Nighttime World is practically a soul album -- even the cover looks more like What's Going On than X-101. On the first track, "Behind This Door," he conjures a few string flourishes and a surprisingly chunky bassline to evoke the nightlife, while the title track, "Electric Nigger" and "The Color of Skin" all trade in Hood-style minimalism for a bit more focus on fleshed-out productions, including even acoustic pianos. Of course, there's still a trademark glazed-eye trance workout ("Untitled"). Unlike Internal Empire, this one functions as more than just a collection of great tracks. And it's great to see Hood's growth as a producer not posing a threat to his sound. Nighttime World is still one of the most inventive full-lengths to come out of Detroit. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
