fluctuation - headman (EP) release date: 30/7/2010 - available to download
Fluctuation is the 3rd single taken from Headman's latest album "1923". Fluctuation takes you back to Headman's Manhead roots; pushing the sounds of early 80s club music deeper underground than ever. The remixes come courtesy of Tim Goldsworthy, under his moniker Thee Loving Hand and the Italian newcomer to Gomma: Cécile. "New Zombie" gets the treatment from Adelaide trio The Swiss - a live disco band who's existence is based on entirely on favour and good times rather than the Cobra Snake and fitted caps. They deliver a, somehow, 90s sounding disco banger! Last but not least the Edmonton, CA based Shout Out Out Out Out remix "Assassins". The original track from the album sounds Balearic/ cosmic, but they take it somewhere else completely ... DJ support from Aeroplane, Tiga, Chloé, InFlagranti, Tronik Youth, Rob Da Bank, Tim Sweeney/Beats In Space, Erol Alkan, Brodinski, Horse Meat Disco and many more!
salad is ok - b-complex (EP) release date: 30/7/2010 - available to download
This meat is murdah: Salad is OK! In the business of beefy beats B-complex is definitely a premium provider who mingles fatness with a fair amount of wit to get some serious rear end flesh shaking going on the worldwide dancefloors. Hospital didn't hesitate to sign some slovakian flavour to their label. Not to let us dwell on monosonic Beat-Cuisine, B-complex lightens up our daily Drum'n'Bass nutrition with a swinging haunch in the likes of floorfiller "Body Rock" by Andy C. B-complex cooks grimey drums with Atari-style arpeggios to his very unique blend and qualifies for a defenite rinseout candidate with a fresh release on SANTORN. "Raindrops" is more on the hyperactivating side, straight and stakkato, making this 12" slice a complete purchase for every chief DJ and Drum'n'Bass lover. The artwork of the cover by Nest-Net says it all, mostly a bit too fierce and edgy for mainstream, these slovakian peppers present a delicacy in the British cuisine of club music. So if you ever tried some slovakian fir-tree-schnaps, which works well for digestion, you'll know that this little country offers some funky and recommendable flavours. Music creation has been of huge importance to Matus Lenicky since the age of 12, taking him on a journey through just about every sub genre of dance music you can imagine. In 2009 his track "Beautiful Lies" lit up the switchboard after being played by London Elektricity on the Hospital Records podcast and subsequently found a home on the brilliant Sick Music compilation hitting the top 30 of the iTunes album chart. Radio play from the likes of Zane Lowe and High Contrast on BBC Radio 1 soon followed, now Matus is batting off remix requests and DJing at sell-out club nights including a UK debut at the new Fabric-owned Matter nightclub in the O2 dome. There's more to come, so keep your ears and eyes peeled on this young talent!

far out spaced oddyssey (expanded edition) - various (CD) release date: 26/7/2010 - available to download
Far Out voyages through the Brazilian archives with this wild trip deep into mutated South American psychedelia, esoteric curios, and trippy electronics. Those broadcasting from the outer regions include freaking out women Aleuda & Joyce, medieval sambista Jose Mauro, guerrilla space-rockers Binario, the irresistible dreamy folk duo Nana and Mauricio, and Mark Pritchard’s sci-fi exotica Troubleman guise. Far Out has taken a leap of faith with some of Brazil’s edgiest artists, yet the high quality production never falters on 24 mind blowing compositions spread over two genre straddling disks. Twisted soft psych and hard experimentalism from the further fringes of Brazil makes for a cinematic, dancing brew. The result is intoxicating.
Spaced Oddyssey Volume 1 kicks off with a double header of floating light and deranged darkness on Jose Mauro’s masterpiece ‘Apocalipse’ and Piri’s underground carnival ‘Reza Brava’. Both lifted from Far Out’s early compilation of Roberto Quartin’s legendary Quartin Records, the tracks are rare, alternative and completely unique. Joyce’s acid-folk masterpiece ‘Visions of Dawn’, many people’s choice as re-issue of 2009 having been lost to the world since 1976, spawned the dreamy set-highlight ‘Tudo Bonito’ – the soft psych that emerged from this stunning Parisian session calms before Binario’s space rock storm. Their absorbing hybrid is genre hopping, mind rattling and full of wobbly psychedelia. The jazz, rock musicianship is expert, the sense of improvisation intriguing. Rabotnik evolved as an electronic side-project of Rio’s Binario. Part soothing soundtrack, part freak-out the neighbours, their atmospheric textures recall Autechre and Boards of Canada with the mix of complex driving rhythm, meticulous sequencing & minimalism. Far Out’s most famous sons Azymuth tie up volume one with two dance floor fillers: ‘Caca A Raposa’ shows Azymuth at the height of their powers on seminal debut ‘Azimuth’ while classic meets new breed as Rabotnik remix Azymuth’s ‘Os Cara La’. Robots and people collide as warped electronica and crazy samba provides a beautifully mad finale.
Volume two is stuffed full of rarities, hidden gems, and unreleased material. The beautiful cinematic opener is the instrumental of brand new track ‘Verdade Anterior’ taken from Mauricio Maestro & Nana Vasconcelos’ upcoming album – the long-time-coming follow up to ‘Visions of Dawn’. Followed by extremely rare ‘60s and ‘70s acid-folk cuts incorporating psych jazz and rock from Piri, Jose Mauro, and Victor Assis Brazil. Two extremely rare Brazilian records provide yet more tracks previously unreleased on CD: Rubens Bassini Y Los Latinos’ ‘Son Cubano’ is a floaty, percussive number that evokes a tripping horse while the Sun-Ra esque Orquestra De Tambores come from North-West Brazil, the music from another planet. The second Oddyssey takes a darker warped electronic detour through Rabotnik and left-field hip-hop and electronic inspired UK producers Kwes, Daz-I-Que, Paul White and Warp Records’ Mark Pritchard. Pritchard’s Troubleman ends this Intergalactic trip in a funkier dance-floor realm.
