Now this DVD brings the music of this legendary, long unavailable LP " " from 1981 back to life - in the guise of gestures, signs, interaction and movement. In November 1998, WOLFGANG MÜLLER, founder of DIE TÖDLICHE DORIS, decided to re-release the band's sought-after and long unavailable first vinyl LP. However, not as sound, but as a gesture: Sign language interpreters DINA TABBERT and ANDREA SCHULZ translated and reshaped the lyrics and music of " " using nothing but signs and gestures. The result of this transmutation is a 'soundless' music, expressed entirely within and through the body, gestures, movements, interaction and facial expressions. Many hearing-impaired people - and an equal amount of those who could hear just fine - made their way to the Prater at the Berliner Volksbühne to witness this process as part of a series of events called 'Gehörlose Musik' (music for the deaf or 'soundless music'), initiated by "Freunde guter Musik" (friends of good music). And the result is no dance, no performance, no music - it constitutes a new form of art defying conventional definition.

Disputed and celebrated: HERMANN NITSCH, Actionist and painter, composer and stage designer. He is one of the most renowned Austrian artists of today and nevertheless still divides the art world as before. NITSCH belongs beside Günter Brus, Otto Mühl and Rudolf Schwarzkogler to the most important main actors of Viennese Actionism. At the beginning of the sixties he carried out his first 'Actions' in Vienna, which involved several trials and three terms of imprisonment. His main work, the "Orgy Mystery Theatre", inspired by Greek mythology, as well as by Antonin Artaud or Sigmund Freud, has been introducing, building up and carrying on all art forms since this time. On this DVD there is a 4-hour overview of all 'Actions' of 1962-2003, as well as an interview from 2005. The 80-page book (German/English) with a text by Florian Schreiner and numerous photos explains the theoretical basis of Nitsch's work. On the CD are recordings of the 122nd 'Action' in the castle theatre Vienna.

"NIPPON CONNECTION - EXCHANGING TRACKS" ANTHOLOGY are 28 electronic re-interpretations of traditional Japanese music.
"Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks" is an ambitious and exceptional project, making the effort to blend the best of two worlds: traditional Zen music from the land of the rising sun on the one hand, and modern electronic music from the western hemisphere on the other. The compilation is the result of the cooperation between the Frankfurt based label das modular and Nippon Connection, the largest Japanese film festival in Europe. Two Japanese traditionals, played by the outstanding 'Shingetsu Ensemble', were recorded and then given to renowned remixers from all over the world to be re-interpreted. The artists were encouraged to create personal soundtracks to the pictures that came to their minds, while listening to the atmospheric originals. The "Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks" Compilation features the resulting 28 songs as well as the original recordings on 3 CDs. Each track was exclusively produced for the project.
