A DVD-flashback of early 80s Berlin subculture, featuring output by virtuosos of the city's underground movie scene, who rediscovered Super 8 as an adequate outlet for their creative endeavours. Accompanied by a compilation of music, covering a huge range of styles and currents - from punk to ingenious dilettantes - this lavish package recalls the walled-in city's unique feel and lifestyle. By no means a nostalgic review of times long gone, this is, rather, an appraisal (with no claim to completeness) of a creative Berlin which to this day exerts its influence on German pop culture and beyond. A bizarre tragicomedy, is the last instalment of Kollek's trilogy on the fate of young women in New York.
Bridget's sole aim is to regain custody of her son Clarence. He means everything to her and she wants to buy him off his foster parents. As her earnings from working as a cashier and topless dancer could never suffice, she embarks on a strange odyssey to raise the necessary money. On her travels, she agrees to the strangest deals until her shady past finally catches up with her.
To begin with she encounters Pete, a mentally handicapped man whose father offers her a million dollars - if she marries his son and stays with him for five years. Later, she accepts a grotesque assignment as a drug mule to Beirut, then she is blackmailed by some old enemies of her ex-husband. But this time - her happiness almost within reach - Bridget won't be fooled again.
With typical mastery Kollek draws on mainstream elements like action and romance to realise an extraordinarily surreal and absurd film.

Kollek tells the dramatic story of Fiona, a young woman abandoned at birth on the streets of New York. Sexually abused by her foster father she finally ends up, like her mother, as a prostitute and drug addict. Fiona knows no moral boundaries. Sleeping with men and women alike she is an equally passionate lover and killer. Unknown to either, she meets her own mother and spends a night with her. When Fiona is caught shop-lifting and shot in the process, her plans of leaving the city for good go up in smoke.
Shot on handheld camera with streetwalkers in a crack house, Kollek expertly juxtaposes radical East Village reality with his own staged scenes. The film paints an authentic picture of a social environment caught up between raw violence and intense tenderness.
In these extraordinarily direct and intimate scenes Anna Thomson transcends the boundaries of acting, a veritable tour de force for actress and audience alike. Rarely has harsh New York reality been portrayed as relentlessly.

A film about loneliness. It tells the story of attractive New Yorker Sue who is struggling for her livelihood. And Sue is about to lose everything: her job, her apartment and her last remaining connections to the outside world. Although always on the lookout for work and friendship, her awkward way of establishing contact with others alienates and irritates. In her deepest despair she meets two individuals who wish to help her out of this desperation: likeable journalist Ben, who unsuccessfully attempts to gain Sue’s trust, and barkeeper Linda, whose friendship she cannot embrace. Ridden by fear and distrust Sue is unable to establish human relationships and finally loses herself in random anonymous sex. She can only express herself through her body: "I communicate via sex."
Amos Kollek and Anna Thompson met at an audition for different film. He was so impressed by her profound vulnerability and sensuous charisma that he decided to cast her as Sue in the eponymous cult classic.
At Berlinale 1998 SUE received rapturous applause from critics and audience alike. It went on to claim the Award of the International Association of Film Critics and the Award of Ecumenical Churches. The Montreal Film Festival 1999 honoured Anna Thompson for her outstanding acting performance.

There's plenty of less obvious quality from Jamie Lidell, High Contrast, The hilarious 'King of Clubs' from Johnny Dangerous, Cut Copy & Young AX. This comp should raise Annie to the next level, and shows that Radio 1's new generation of Djs can actually pick and play great records and not just talk inanely over them. Massive respect.

"die letzte rache" tells the adventurous story of the "world expert", a lucky beggar, who searches an ancestor for the aging ruler. the "world expert" doesnt find a dignified heir, he is tempted to seize power on his own. but the ruler foils the plan and uses the "world expert" to gain immortality in a scienc experiment. the "world expert" takes revenge on him and destroys the rulers empire. With this, he prepares an unexpected intrigue: son and daughter of the ruler, who incestously love each other, take revenge for the withholded heritage: They torture their father in his immortality.
the film was first shown 1982 on ZDF in the series "Das Kleine Fernsehspiel"
the movie gained cult status in whole Europe, Japan and the US. In the following two decades, the movie didnt lose his attraction and was shown in various arthouse cinemas. the extraordinary mixture of expressionistic figure play, comic, film noir and pop musical makes the feature film debut of Rainer Kirberg a unique stilistic piece of german film.
For this DVD-Edition the historic original was lavishly mastered again in appearance and tone. "die letzte rache" is released in a version that was reworked from the director and with an additional soundtrack from the renowned german avantgarde group "Der Plan".
